I love these. More fun with physics!
(Yes, I’m getting back to work now.)
TV Guide Magazine: Give us an algorithm for your show.
Horowitz and Kitsis: We don’t understand math. That’s why we became writers.
TV Guide Magazine: ABC promotes your Lost credits. Which past credit should they avoid touting at all costs?
Horowitz and Kitsis: Hot Tonight. It was a public access sketch-comedy show we did in Madison, Wisconsin. We thought we were funny. We write drama now.
TV Guide Magazine: Showrunner battles are all the rage these days. Pick a rival show, any show, to start a fight with.
Horowitz and Kitsis: 60 Minutes. We’ve watched your show. We’ve timed it. Without commercials, you’re only 43 minutes.
TV Guide Magazine: Let’s scare the network. Tell us an idea that didn’t make it out of the writers’ room.
Horowitz and Kitsis: We have a show with fairies, dwarves, talking crickets and dragons — we’re not sure they’re frightened of anything anymore.
TV Guide Magazine: Let’s say you could do a crossover episode with any TV show in history. Which show, and what would the episode be about?
Horowitz and Kitsis: The Charmings. And it would be Snow and Charming confronting Snow and Charming. Fighting to the death over who is really… Snow and Charming.

Someone linked to this video in one of the notes on the interview I did with DCWKA, and called Joss Whedon the anti-Dan DiDio. Holy crap, guys, if you haven’t seen it, it’s so worth a watch! I don’t always agree with Whedon’s creative decisions, but right now I’m a little bit in love with him.

From Steve Rosenbaum:
Google’s terms and conditions, buried in tiny print that most users will miss, gives them the right to take control of your content.
“By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services. You agree that this license includes a right for Google to make such Content available to other companies, organizations or individuals with whom Google has relationships for the provision of syndicated services, and to use such Content in connection with the provision of those services.”
The key terms here are Perpetual, Royalty-Free - and most disturbingly - Adapt and Modify.
This means that if you’ve taken pictures of a sunset, or fireworks, or your children playing with a toy - or anything - Google has the right to grab those images, edit them, publishing them, and re-sell them.
If you think the answer is simply that you won’t put any pictures on your G+ page, think again. Google REQUIRES you to link your Picasa account to your G+ account, and therefore requires you to license your Picasa to them under their Royalty-Free contract.
SCARY STUFF.
Important info
ALWAYS read the terms of service especially with all of this new social networking nonsense.
Interesting.
Not that I’m remotely interested in joining Google+, but this is good to know.
I think most of us in the sciences (probably most in the humanities too) never wished to become as specialised as we ended up as.
I know personally, I didn’t want to learn ‘more and more about less and less’.
Personally I ran off to study medicine, one which should connect to most parts of society. But even this very broad field is limited, walled in.
Being interested in people means I want to know about their history, their culture, their evolution. I want to know our place in the universe.
This linked article is about someone who didn’t end up in just one field, and how his work links immunology, genetics, history, culture, language, and even a bit of political repression.
Of course it takes a special kind of person to work well in so many fields, as in the kind of person who presents his immunology work through dance:
Ohhh, this is cool.
Since X-Men First Class is being released in a lot of countries today (and will soon be released in others) I think that X-Men master post is in order.
The X-Men are a superhero team in the Marvel Comics Universe. They were created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and first appeared in The X-Men #1 (September 1963). The basic concept of the X-Men is that under a cloud of increasing anti-mutant sentiment, Professor Xavier created a haven at his Westchester mansion to train young mutants to use their powers for the benefit of humanity, and to prove mutants can be heroes.
If there is anything wrong with the links send me a message. If you want to bash or rant about this post DON’T REBLOG (or keep it in your tags). Special thanks to TOM for helping me with the links.
